Which toothpaste is best for your child?

Which toothpaste should you choose?

Patients always ask us “Which toothpaste is best for my child?” There are a multitude of choices out there and it can be overwhelming to try to figure out which toothpaste is the best choice for your child. Below are our recommendations for choosing a toothpaste for your child.

Kids under the age of 3: Choose a non-Fluoride toothpaste (Kids will swallow anything, except vegetables and we don’t want them swallowing fluoride.) A good choice to use is Orajel My Way, Fluoride-Free toothpaste.

Kids over the age of 3: Choose Crest or Colgate brands formulated just for kids.

Both of the toothpastes listed above have a great flavor and are not as strong as adult toothpastes.

REMEMBER: Use only a pea sized amount on your children’s toothbrush and be sure to monitor them while they are brushing to make sure they don’t swallow the toothpaste or paint your bathroom cabinets with their brush!

Happy Brushing!
